Infusion of MCT oil with plant extracts

< Back

MCT oil (winterized coconut oil, medium chain triglycerides) is often added to plant extracts for better absorption and dosage. The infusion of the MCT oil with the extract can be challenging. Plant extracts are often viscous to solid, while MCT oil has the viscosity of vegetable oil. In order to achieve a homogeneous final product, the mixture is slightly heated using a heating plate and stirred with a laboratory stirrer.

A manufacturer of products made from plant extracts from San Diego, OutCo, uses an laboratory stirrer Hei-TORQUE Ultimate 200 in combination with a Hei-Tec magnetic stirrer with temperature sensor Pt1000 for this step. The mixture is stirred at 60 °C at 800 rpm for eight minutes.
